CSK vs SRH: Chennai hand debut to Dewald Brevis as Rachin Ravindra dropped

Chennai Super Kings have handed a debut to Dewald Brevis for their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad as Rachin Ravindra was dropped for the game. Brevis was signed as a replacement player by CSK this season.

Chennai Super Kings have handed a debut to Dewald Brevis as they drop the misfiring Rachin Ravindra from the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, April 25. Brevis was roped in as a replacement player by CSK after Gurjapneet Singh was ruled out for the rest of the season. The South African went unsold during the IPL 2025 auction.

During the pre-match presser, coach Stephen Fleming had suggested that Brevis was in the mix to play against SRH, which was a do-or-die clash. Brevis has played 10 matches in his IPL career, all for Mumbai Indians, and scored 230 runs. Brevis comes in for Rachin, who has struggled during the IPL 2025 season.

Batting as an opener, Rachin has scored 191 runs in 8 matches after scoring a fifty in the first game. Apart from this change, CSK also got back Deepak Hooda back for Vijay Shankar and Sam Curran was in the lineup in place of Jamie Overton. It is expected that the impressive Ayush Mhatre will open the batting for Chennai alongside Shaik Rasheed.
