Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lost his cool and had a spat with the Sri Lanka A players right after India A lost an intense super over contest in Dambulla on Monday, June 15. The incident happened right after the last ball was bowled by Kugathas Mathulan to Sooryavanshi. By then the equation was out of India A's hands as they needed 8 runs off the final ball.
Mathulan nailed the yorker perfectly and started to celebrate wildly as Sri Lanka A players also joined. While the exact reason isn't known, it is suspected that the young opener was unhappy with either Mathulan's celebration or something that was told to him after the match was completed. Sooryavanshi proceeded to have a heated argument with the players and the opener went on to push one of the Sri Lankan stars.
Sooryavanshi had to be separated by Niroshan Dickewella, who acted as the peacemaker to diffuse the situation. Even as the players started to shake hands with each other, Sooryavanshi wasn't happy and had to be calmed down by his teammates as he made his way back to the pavilion. The commentators said it wasn't nice to see such a situation unfold after a thriller of a contest on the day.
The match on Monday saw multiple heated moments with India A captain Tilak Varma being the first one. The Indian skipper was continuously arguing with the umpires, first trying to convince them that the light was fine for a super over and then over a no ball during the over bowled by India in the super over phase.
Sooryavanshi didn't have the best of outings with the bat as he scored just 21 off 14 balls during the Indian innings.
SOORYAVANSHI AND HIS SHORT TEMPER
This isn't the first time that Sooryavanshi has been involved in a heated spat with an opposition player in his career. During the U19 Asia Cup final last year, he got involved in an argument with Ali Raza after being dismissed in the match.
