In Short

  • Hardik has missed Mumbai Indians' last two matches because of back spasms
  • MI are already eliminated from IPL 2026
  • Training videos showed Hardik batting alone late into the night

Is Hardik Pandya really injured? Well, this will be the question that everyone will have after seeing the Mumbai Indians skipper sweat it out in the nets during a late-night session. Hardik posted a couple of videos on his official Instagram account, where he was seen taking the bowlers apart.

Hardik has been out of action since MI's El Clasico loss to CSK on May 2 and he didn't travel with the initial group of Mumbai players to Dharamshala for their next match against Punjab Kings on May 14. Hardik has missed the last two games due to back spasms.

But the Indian all-rounder has now hinted with his intense training session that he is fit and ready to return if needed. Hardik was seen training at a Reliance facility and showed no mercy towards the bowlers as he took them on. The MI captain trained alone at the facility and didn't show any signs of discomfort while batting. You can see the full video below:

WHAT DID MI SAY ABOUT HARDIK'S FITNESS?

MI coach Mahela Jayawardene issued a fitness update on Hardik right after their loss to RCB. The Mumbai coach said that Hardik is having a back issue and the medical team was still working on him in a bid to get the all-rounder back on the field.

Jayawardene said that they weren't willing to take a risk with the all-rounder and go about things on a day-to-day basis.

"Yeah. Hardik had a back issue which we were trying to rectify, but it hasn't settled in yet. So the medical guys were working on him. He couldn't train the last few days, so we didn't want to take a risk without knowing exactly. So we'll see. It's on a day-to-day basis. See how he feels."

And then we'll make a decision on that," said Jayawardene.

MI are already eliminated from IPL 2026 as they have just six points from 11 matches. There were rumours of a rift between Hardik and MI after he unfollowed them on social media, but it seems like the all-rounder is determined to be back on the field for his side.
