Mizoram cricketer K. Lalremruata dies after collapsing during match

A tragedy struck Mizoram cricket recently when K. Lalremruata, a former Ranji Trophy cricketer, died days after collapsing in a match in his home state. The Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM) confirmed Lalremruata’s death in an official statement.
The incident took place during a Khaled Memorial 2nd Division Screening Tournament match between Venghnuai Raiders CC and Chawnpui ILMOV CC on Wednesday, where Lalremruata was playing for Venghnuai Raiders CC. He suddenly suffered a medical complication on the field during the match.
He was given immediate medical attention and quickly taken to a hospital. Despite efforts by doctors, his life could not be saved, and he was declared dead. There are early reports that the collapse was abrupt, but the medical cause is yet to be reported in detail, as the official confirmation and further tests are still awaited.
Lalremruata was the Mizoram cricketer who played the Ranji Trophy, the major first-class domestic tournament in India, and was immensely popular in the cricketing circles of the North East as a player. His premature death has caused ripples in the sporting fraternity of the locality and otherwise.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially expressed its sorrow and paid condolences to Lalremruata and his family, friends, and colleagues. The BCCI, in a statement, had emphasized his contribution to developing and projecting cricket within the region and credited his contribution to popularizing the sport in Mizoram.
There were tributes on social media by players, officials, and fans, who recalled the spirit of Lalremruata in the field and his love for the game. He was described by many as a passionate cricketer whose appearance boosted cricket activities locally and motivated the youth around.
Additional information regarding the events that led to his fall, such as his health conditions, will be provided as the investigation and the medical report are being prepared. In the meantime, tributes in his honour are said to be being organized by the Mizoram Cricket Association and local leagues.
