New Delhi: The 32-year-old Axar Patel only needs one wicket to create history in T20Is for India, this might be achieved in match against England.

Axar Patel will become the first bowler for India to reach 100 wickets or more in a short format cricket. Patel might create a record in the upcoming second T20I against England at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.

The Indian spinners with most wickets list ranks Axar on first with 99 wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal at second with 96 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav comes next with 95 wickets.

Since making his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015, the Gujarat-born cricketer has struggled to cement a place in the Indian team.

However, over the last few years Axar has nailed down the middle-order spot and is now a mainstay. After helping India win back-to-back T20 World Cups, he now has the chance to set a remarkable record.

The players in the past who have crossed the 100 wickets mark includes Arshdeep Singh with 131 wickets, Jasprit Bumrah with 121 wickets and Hardik Pandya with 114 wickets.

This achievement could have been made in the first match itself but after the rain he didn’t come in to bowl.

If we see this record in prespective to international level, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan comes first on the list for most wickets by a spinner in T20Is with 193. New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi and England’s Adil Rashid also feature among the top wicket-takers in the T20I format.
