Defender Neco Williams has put pen to paper on a new Nottingham Forest contract.

The Reds have announced the right-back has signed fresh terms to keep him at the club until the summer of 2029. His previous deal had been due to expire in 2026.

Williams joined Forest from Liverpool three years ago and has made more than 100 appearances in the Garibaldi since then. He played a key role last season as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finished seventh in the Premier League to qualify for Europe.

"This club has come so far in recent years and I am proud to be on the journey,” Williams said after penning his new contract.

“Everyone knows how ambitious our owner is, and I’m grateful to him for showing belief in me and showing belief in the club. The future is exciting.

"I am really happy here and I can't wait to get back to work and go again. The fans at this club are special and they have supported me since the day I joined.

“For us, it’s a privilege to be playing for a football club with fans like the Forest fans. We are all looking forward to having those European nights at the City Ground and as a team we want to create more memories for everyone attached to Forest."

Williams signing a new contract comes on the back of Willy Boly agreeing to extend his stay with the club last month. Centre-back Murillo and striker Chris Wood penned new deals earlier in the year.

Forest will hope to get other key players tied down in the near future. They have been in talks with full-back Ola Aina while they will hope to see Callum Hudson-Odoi commit to the club as he has 12 months remaining on his deal.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis said of Williams’ new deal: "Nottingham Forest is a club for ambitious players; people who want to grow with us on our exciting journey and create special memories. Neco shares our vision for the direction we are going as a club and he is a key part of our team."

Chief football officer Ross Wilson added: “Neco has established himself as an important member of our squad. Still only 24, he's already got great experience with over 100 games in the Premier League.

“As well as his quality, he also brings personality and versatility to the team. Neco has earned this extended contract, and we are all now looking forward to seeing him continue to develop and help us grow ahead of an exciting season. He is extremely ambitious, and I know how excited he and his family are to continue this journey at Nottingham Forest.”
