Evangelos Marinakis slammed for bizarre Nuno moment after Nottingham Forest game

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have slammed Evangelos Marinakis after his response to the 2-2 draw between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City.

Their comments came after Marinakis appeared to direct comments to Reds boss Nuno Espirito Santo on the pitch post-match on Sunday.

Forest dropped points in a 2-2 draw at home to Leicester City.

The point guaranteed European football at the City Ground for next season. However, the result is a major blow to their ambitions of securing Champions League football at NG2.

The Reds could have moved back into the top five with a win after Chelsea lost 2-0 at Newcastle United earlier in the day. But their draw against already relegated Leicester leaves them seventh with just two games left to play.

And after Marinakis' exchange with Nuno, Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Carragher expressed his anger toward the Greek businessman.

"Get him off the pitch, honestly," he said on Sky Sports. "Get off the pitch.

"They had that situation last year on social media over a penalty and stuff like that. They've qualified for Europe tonight, unbelievable achievement for Nottingham Forest."

Fellow Sky pundit Gary Neville launched an impassioned defence of Forest's players and their manager soon after the incident. The ex-Manchester United full-back has called on Nuno to resign.

"Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him," " Neville said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that."

Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White, meanwhile, offered his response to qualifying for the Europa League and tried to explain the club's recent drop-off in form.

"It's been a tough season, very demanding especially when we've put ourselves in the positions we have," he told Sky Sports.

"I can't put a reason on it. Fatigue? Tiredness? But we can't make excuses because the fans deserve better.

"We've secured Europa League, it's incredible but we wanted more.

"Our and our fans expectations were Champions League a few games ago. We've got two games to go and we have to turn it around.

"None of us have been in this situation before so we handled it well to start with but as it's got away from us, we haven't handled it so well. We're new to it but we still fighting and building as a team and a club."
