Chris Eubank Jr takes on Conor Benn tonight

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn undercard, running order and fight times

by · NottinghamshireLive

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are set to finally face off in the ring tonight, aiming to settle their long-standing rivalry.

The sons of renowned boxing figures have been building their own feud for the past two-and-a-half years, ever since their match was initially scheduled - only to be cancelled when Benn failed two drug tests during the preparation phase. The fight will now take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a change from the original venue, The O2 arena, which will result in a significantly larger payout for both fighters.

Benn has since been cleared to compete in the UK and has claimed victory in two bouts in America following the cancellation of his fight with Eubank Jr in October 2022. On the other hand, Eubank Jr has won two out of his three subsequent fights, sharing a win and a loss with Liam Smith before defeating Kamil Szeremeta last October.

Tonight's undercard also promises plenty of action, and we'll delve into each of the fights in more detail....

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn - 10pm, reports the Mirror.

The headline bout between Eubank Jr and Benn is as captivating as it is contentious, with Eubank Jr vowing to "erase" Benn from the sport following his two failed drug tests nearly three years ago. Despite their intertwined legacies, the pair seemed unlikely to meet due to differences in weight and experience.

However, circumstances have brought them together for a much-anticipated clash tonight. Eubank Jr, who missed the 160lb weight limit at the weigh-in, will have a significant size advantage, while Benn may look to capitalise early on before Eubank Jr can leverage his physicality.

The 9pm slot features Anthony Yarde taking on Lyndon Arthur in an unexpected trilogy bout. Arthur initially shocked Yarde with a split-decision win in 2020, but Yarde avenged that loss with a fourth-round stoppage in their rematch.

Both fighters have since competed at elite levels against Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, yet find themselves back in the ring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight. Yarde, still linked to a potential domestic mega-fight with Joshua Buatsi, is favoured to come out on top once more.

At 8pm, Liam Smith faces off against Aaron McKenna.

Smith may feel hard done by as he is not fighting Chris Eubank Jr tonight. He previously defeated his rival in their first bout before losing the second, which he attributes to rushing back from injury and not being fully prepared for the rematch.

Smith was scheduled to fight Josh Kelly last September but had to withdraw due to illness. Now, he must demonstrate that he's still got it against the undefeated McKenna.

The Irishman is facing a significant increase in the quality of his opponents but remains confident that he can defeat Smith and position himself for a world title shot.

Viddal Riley vs Cheavon Clarke - 7pm.

This match-up features a rivalry akin to Arsenal vs Tottenham at the home of Spurs, as Gunner Clarke seeks to recover from his first career loss. He was defeated by European champion Leonardo Mosquea last December but still holds the British cruiserweight title, which he will be defending tonight.

Riley, best known as KSI's trainer, has carved out an unbeaten career for himself and aims to make a statement tonight.

Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton - 6pm.

This bout comes with some tension after Glanton accused Billam-Smith of previously ignoring him. The Bournemouth man aims to rebound after losing his world title to Gilberto Ramirez last year.

Glanton has only fought three times in the past two years following recovery from consecutive losses, but the American brings plenty of confidence across the Atlantic.
