Soccer star Alamara Djabi severely injured after horrific stabbing

Alamara Djabi, soccer star who plays midfielder for Denmark's FC Midtjylland is recovering after he was stabbed in Herning, Denmark.

The 19-year-old was stabbed over the weekend as the team announced in a Tuesday statement on its official website.

Djabi was seriously injured and underwent two surgeries, the team said. Djabi was then placed in a medically induced coma. He has woken up and is currently “doing well" following the surgeries, the team further explained their teammate’s situation.

“Our thoughts are with our teammate, his family and friends and we wish him a continued speedy recovery,” the team's statement read.

“We ask for the public's understanding and call for respect for the privacy of Alamara Djabi and his loved ones in this difficult situation,” they concluded.

Djabi, who is from Guinea-Bissau, also made seven appearances on loan with the Portuguese team CD Mafra last season, according to reports by the BBC.

He played in one game for Midtjylland in the Europa League qualifying playoffs in August 2025, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities are investigating the incident and the team has said that it is cooperating with officials and also supporting Djabi's family during this period of grief.
