England hit by brutal warning ahead of DR Congo World Cup knockout

England is set to face DR Congo, but ahead of the match in Atlanta, a warning has been given to the UK team.

The Three Lions, who are training in Kansas City, are set to face what reports say is a “heat dome".

A searing 43°C is expected to test the limit of the English team, who are already battling the scorching heat of North America.

The heat index – a combination of temperature and humidity – could reach a brutal 43. 3C, according to forecasters.

Experts say the current heatwave is one of the most staggering in years.

“This week is going to be very, very hot,” said Geoff Cornish, assistant chief video meteorologist for the weather forecasting company AccuWeather.

“This is going to be a significant heatwave, the likes of which we don’t see in every single year.”

Further, Kansas City is not the only city under the sun’s scorching heat.

Philadelphia and Boston, and much of the East Coast, are also expected to swelter in the relentless sun.

The England team, meanwhile, was aware of the unsettling situation.

For example, before the tournament, Thomas Tuchel, England's manager, admitted his team would struggle in the intense heat.

"We are not used to being in this kind of heat and humidity and even altitude if we play in Mexico.”

“There will be a lot of challenges in this World Cup. The heat is one of them, but we are prepared already,” he said at the time.

England will face DR Congo on July 1.
