Australia cricket team star Travis Head reached a unique milestone on Friday with his 142-run knock in the 2nd innings of the Ashes 3rd Test in Adelaide. Continuing his dominance at the top of the order, the explosive opener brought up his 11th Test century, pushing England to the brink of yet another defeat. With his 100 in Adelaide, Head surpassed the legendary Don Bradman to achieve a unique feat in the longest format of the game.

Head overtakes Don Bradman to become Adelaide GOAT

Head become the first left-handed Australian batter to score four consecutive centuries at a venue. The only other Australians to do so are Don Bradman (MCG – 1928-31, Headingley 1930-48), Michael Clarke (Adelaide – 2012-14) and Steve Smith (MCG 2014-17). Head is the only left-handed batter to achieve the feat in this decade while many other former Australian cricketers like Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, Allan Border and mark Taylor couldn’t do so.

Overall, Head has played 8 Tests at the Adelaide Oval in which he has amassed 786 runs at an average of 87.33 and has four centuries to his name. The Australian opener is now on the verge of creating history as he will become the only batter from the country to smash five consecutive centuries at a venue if he does so in Australia’s next Test series.

Talking about Head’s knock in Ashes 3rd Test, the opener finished at 142 runs off 196 deliveries, putting Australia firmly in the driver’s seat in the contest. He suffered a scare when he was on 99 as he was dropped by Harry Brook. However, he breached the triple-figure mark with ease, striking 13 fours and 2 sixes.
