Will MS Dhoni play in CSK's IPL 2026 game vs SRH?

Although CSK is yet to provide an official update on MS Dhoni’s fitness, but prior to their IPL 2026 clash against SRH, the star player travelled with the team.

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 progresses further, players have started to show intent, bringing in their match-winning heroics to the front. Be it Sanju Samson’s century last week against Delhi Capitals (DC) or Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Quinton de Kock’s 112* against Punjab Kings (PBKS) – players have showed up for their team.

Amidst this, veteran wicketkeeper-batter and former captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) MS Dhoni is yet to take the field this season. The 44-year-old remains sidelined due to a calf strain since the start of IPL 2026, is close to regaining full fitness.

However, CSK is yet to provide an official update on MS Dhoni’s fitness, but prior to their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), scheduled to take place on April 18, the star player travelled with the team to Hyderabad. While the keeper-batter was welcomed with loud cheers, CSK is not willing to rush him.

As a result, MS Dhoni will miss CSK’s upcoming game against SRH, but is speculated to make a return vs Gujarat Titans (GT) later this month. According to reports citing RevSportz, MS Dhoni is highly likely to be available for their next home game, which is scheduled to take place on April 26 against GT.

It is to be known that MS Dhoni’s presence in the CSK colours brings massive boost to the side, who had a forgettable start, but are on a two-match winning streak.

Speaking of their IPL 2026 campaign, the Yellow Army are eighth in the points table with two wins from five games and a negative net run-rate of -0.846. The Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co., who will next take on SRH, will look to continue their momentum, especially with the likes of Dewald Brevis, Sanju Samson, Jamie Overton and others in form.
