The India Cricket Team has left Australia to return to the country. After a 3-1 loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the Rohit Sharma-led side is now coming back to the country. Now the attention shifts to white ball cricket. India will take on England for a 5T20Is and 3 ODI series before flying off to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy.
Early on 8th January, the India Team left their hotel to embark on a return journey to India. With the loss in the BGT series, India has lost their chance of making it to the WTC Finals. On the other hand, it will be South Africa who will face Australia at Lords in the summer for the WTC Finals.
India eyes ICC silverware
There will be analysis and BCCI meetings back and forth about India’s Test team transition. But now the focus has shifted entirely to white ball cricket. The series against the England Cricket Team will serve as a preparatory session before the much-awaited ICC event.
India is slated to play three group-stage matches in Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy. If India progresses, then the team will continue playing the knockouts and the potential final in Dubai.
Coming to red-ball cricket, the Test future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is in serious doubt. The BCCI has claimed that the team will undergo a massive transition. The change has already started with Ravichandran Ashwin to announce his retirement after the Gabba Test. India begins their 1st T20I match against England on 22nd January.
