Ishan Kishan was dismissed 6 short of a well deserved half-century vs Chennai

Runs returned to Ishan Kishan’s kitty after a brief hiatus during the CSK vs SRH clash on Friday. The left-hander began his IPL 2025 with a century against Rajasthan Royals. However, he had failed to score more than 17 in the next 7 games. Now with pressure mounting, Kishan chipped in with a mature innings on a tricky surface at the Chepauk.

Kishan returns to form, but is it enough for SRH?

Before the CSK vs SRH game, Kishan had managed just 33 runs in 7 innings. With his side needing to win to stay alive, the left-hander took the onus on himself to try and seal the win. Chasing 155 to win a sluggish wicket, Kishan walked into bat after Abhishek Sharma was dismissed early.

Kishan took his time, picking his deliveries to find boundaries. The 26-year-old got a couple of boundaries off Khaleel Ahmed and was content rotating strike, preserving his wicket. After Head and Klaasen were dismissed, Ishan took the onus on himself, attacking Sam Curran to pick up a couple of boundaries. He then smashed Noor Ahmad for a six to go into his 40s, fighting a lone battle against CSK’s attack.

Just when he looked set to take SRH over the finish line, Noor struck, ending a rather mature knock from the SRH star. Kishan managed 44 off 34 balls, with 5 boundaries and a six. At the time of his dismissal, the left-hander accounted for almost 50% of his team’s runs. SRH’s gung-ho approach has come under the scanner in IPL 2025 following their struggles. Kishan on Friday showcased that there was value in settling in and trying to take the game deep. However, unfortunately, the left-hander could not finish the job he started.

Since joining SRH for Rs 11.25 crore in the auction, Kishan has scored 183 runs in 9 innings. While on the surface it looks like a decent record, two of his 9 innings have contributed 150 runs alone.
