The senior men’s selection commitee headed by former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar will announce the Team India squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday at 1.30 PM. The marquee event, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will get underway from February 7 onwards. The squad that will be picked for the T20 WC will be the same as that for the IND vs NZ series that precedes the tournament.

The squad announcement will take place a day after the conclusion of the IND vs SA T20I series. The schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026 is already out, as the 20 participating teams are divided into four groups. India’s group A includes Pakistan, the USA, Namibia and the Netherlands. The Indian squad for the T20 WC will be announced much before the deadline for teams to name their final squads – January 8.
Suryakumar will lead the team in the marquee event while Gill will be his deputy. Samson is expected to find a place in the squad, although he won’t open while Jitesh is expected to be the first-choice keeper. Rinku Singh, who has faced just 30 deliveries in 2025, will be named as a back-up most likely along with Jaiswal and Nitish.
