Massive bridge continues to grow between Smriti Mandhana & other Indian batters in ICC rankings

by · Inside Sport India

Smriti Mandhana has been the best batter in the ICC rankings for some time now, while the others continue to struggle.

The latest ICC rankings for women are out, and it is India’s Smriti Mandhana, who after an excellent 100 vs New Zealand, continues to extend her lead as the best ODI batter in the world. She now has a massive 828 points, 97 clear of the next placed batter. Aussie Ashleigh Gardener has moved up to that second slot now, after a stellar show in the Women’s World Cup 2025, and sees a rise by six spots.

Smriti Mandhana the Best

As far as the other Indians are concerned, there is no one else in the top-10. Harmanreet Kaur continues to slide down and now is 18th in the world. Jemimah Rodrigues has come up by 8, to 19th spot. Deepti Sharma has fallen to 24th, while Pratika Rawal is at 27th. Richa Ghosh, with minimal overs to play, has slipped to 34th.

Other Indians Struggle in ICC Rankings

On bowling front, England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to top the charts. Deepti has fallen to fifth spot, while Renuka Singh Thakur is next-placed Indian at 19th. Sneh Rana is having a mediocre World Cup with the ball, which shows in her rankings, as she has plummeted to 23rd. Pacer Kranti Gaud is at 26th, while Sree Charani has moved up to 30th.

As far as the overall team rankings are concerned, Australia is top of the pile, followed by England, India and South Africa. And these are the four teams who have made it to the semis of the WC, which only shows the bridge between these four and the others. After the tournament, there could be a shuffle, but AUS will stay put at no.1, no matter what the result is.
