Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma will come good in Adelaide ODI, ex-India opener confident
by Madhav Agarwal · Inside Sport IndiaRohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are coming to the international cricket circuit after a gap of six months, and had last played Champions Trophy for India.
Virat Kohli got out for a duck, whereas Rohit Sharma could only score 8 runs, upon their return to international cricket, during the 1st ODI between India and Australia on Sunday. Their struggles were visible on the bouncy and fast Perth pitch, where the duo also drew some criticism. But then former India opener Sunil Gavaskar is quite confident, that they will have better returns in the next two matches of the series.
Not much to make of Rohit & Virat’s Failure
“They were playing on probably the bounciest pitch in Australia. It wasn’t going to be easy, especially for players who haven’t played international cricket for a couple of months. It was challenging even for Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, who play regularly,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by India Today.
India will come good
He said that the more Rohit and Virat spend time on the crease, India will score better, and they will rediscover their touch. “India are still a very, very good team. Don’t be surprised if Rohit and Kohli score big in the next two games. The more they play, the more time they spend in the nets, the quicker they’ll find their rhythm. Once they’re back among the runs, India’s total will be 300, 300-plus,” Gavaskar added.
Meanwhile, the next ODI is at Adelaide, where Virat Kohli has an excellent record, and has scored two tons there in the past. In fact, in Tests he had gone on to score three tons at this venue; so this is one place where he really likes to bat.
