RR breath a sigh of relief as Yashasvi Jaiswal finally finds form, hits crucial 67 against PBKS

1 (5) vs SRH, 29 (24) vs KKR, and 4 (3) vs CSK: These were Jaiswal's scores before his first half-century of the IPL 2025 season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had been in a form rut. Having played three matches for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, the opener had scored just 34 runs at a strike rate of 106.25. RR were slightly worried since their captain Sanju Samson and vice-captain Riyan Parag weren’t in the best of touches either.

Yashasvi Jaiswal almost back to his best

Luckily, Jaiswal has found himself back among runs. It wasn’t at his fluent best against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium, but he did a fine job as his team needed to turn around their poor start. RR, who are placed ninth at the moment on the IPL 2025 points table, are in desperate need of a victory, and Jaiswal decided to start about the change from the top.

He started guns blazing and had scored 32 (22) by the time the powerplay ended. This included a big fourth over, where Jaiswal took Marco Jansen down. But post the 6th over mark, he slowed. In his next 18 balls, he scored just 18 runs and got to his half-century in 40 balls.

Clear signs of being sluggish. But post the milestone, Jaiswal exploded. In the next 4 balls he faced, he scored 17 runs. 4.25 per ball. He was starting to change things around for RR, but that’s when Lockie Ferguson struck. The fast bowler pegged Jaiswal’s off stump back.

Considering his woeful form, RR and Jaiswal would both take 67 (45). Had he continued, the opener could have changed the game in his team’s favour. Now that he’s close to his best, the opposition would be much more wary of the threat that he poses to their chances of victory.
