Tristan Stubbs & Ryan Rickelton added to South Africa's squad, David Miller could miss T20 World Cup

South Africa is placed with New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada and the UAE in Group D and will open their campaign on February 9.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has made two forced changes to South Africa’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Stubbs, Rickelton to play T20 World Cup

Tony de Zorzi and Donovon Ferreira have been ruled out for the ICC tournament owing to a right hamstring muscle tear and a shoulder fracture. They have been replaced by Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton, both of whom were initially ignored for selection.

“De Zorzi has not progressed as expected in his rehabilitation from a right hamstring muscle tear sustained during the One-Day International series against India last month and will not be fit in time for the upcoming T20I series. Due to his unavailability for the series and the need for continued rehabilitation, he will miss the T20 World Cup.   Ferreira, meanwhile, sustained a fracture of his left clavicle during the Betway SA20 encounter between Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals at DP World Wanderers Stadium on Saturday, 17 January,” CSA said in a statement.

David Miller in doubt

David Miller, who injured himself on January 19, has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match T20I series against the West Indies at home. At the moment, it isn’t certain whether Miller would be available for the T20 World Cup. CSA has picked Rubin Hermann as his replacement against the Windies.

“David Miller suffered an adductor muscle injury on Monday while playing for Paarl Royals and will play no part in the T20I series. His availability for the T20 World Cup remains subject to the outcome of a fitness test ahead of the support period. Rubin Hermann has been added to the squad for the T20I series against West Indies in place of Miller,” CSA further said.
