Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 77-run whirlwind knock powered Rajasthan Royals to a 27-run win against Mumbai Indians in Guwahati on Tuesday. The five-time champions failed to chase down the 150-run target in the rain hit game. As a result, RR bagged two more points and are now at the top of the points tabe.
Jaiswal, Suryavanshi go berserk
With rain playing spoilsport, the game was reduced to 11 overs per side. Batting first, the pair of Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again showed why are the most destructive opening duo in the IPL. Jaiswal slammed Deepak Chahar for 22 runs in the very first over. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old spanked Bumah for a six off his very first delivery, leaving the veteran amused. He muscled his way to a blistering 39 off just 14 deliveries striking at an eye-watering 278.57.
The duo stitched an 80-run partnership in just 5 overs. Jaiswal anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 77 off 32 balls. Striking 10 fours and 4 sixes, he maintained a strike rate of 240.63. RR managed to reach 150/3 in 11 overs.

RR bowlers succeeded in keeping the Mumbai Indians batters in check, thereby not allowing Rohit Sharma or Ryan Rickleton to go all guns blazing. Archer removed the Proteas batter right in the first over. Sherfane Rutherford injected brief life into the chase, bludgeoning 25 off just 8 balls at a monstrous strike rate of 312.5, while Naman Dhir contributed a valiant 25 off 13. Despite their late fireworks, the required rate proved too steep.
The Royals’ bowlers shared the spoils evenly, utilizing the pitch conditions to their advantage. Sandeep Sharma was exceptional, utilizing his variations to claim 2/26 in his 3 overs. Nandre Burger (2/21) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/25) applied the finishing touches, dismantling the Mumbai lower order to close out the game.
