Asia Cup: Sri Lanka bowlers shake up Bangladesh batting, reduce team to 0/2 in 2 overs

Asia Cup: Sri Lanka is playing their first match in the tournament, while Bangladesh had already played one, and beaten Hong Kong.

It hardly ever happens that a team loses two wickets with a naught on the scoreboard in Tests.. if that is the reading in a T20I, it is just criminal. And Litton Das-led team is guilty of this crime. In the Asia Cup encounter against Sri Lanka on Saturday, the Bangladeshi lost two wickets for no score, with the both overs being maidens.

BAN batters fall like pack of cards

It all started with Nuwan Thusara getting rid of Tanzid Hasan for a duck on the sixth delivery of the first over, followed by the wicket of Parvez Hossain Emon, in the very next by Dushmantha Chameera. Such was the situation that the team were at the risk of recording the lowest-ever powerplay score in T20Is; at one stage they were 11/3 in 4.3 overs.

Litton Das tries to salvage pride

But then Litton Das did take matters in his own hands and smashed Dasun Shanka for 14 runs in the overs, to save his team from massive embarrassment. If one speaks about the lowest totals in PP, Pakistan holds the record with 13/2 against the West Indies. Bangladesh in 2011 had made their lowest total of 16/3 against Pakistan.

As far as the tournament is concerned, Sri Lanka is playing their first match of the tournament, while Bangladesh are appearing in their second, after a win over Hong Kong. Only two teams from this group will progress to the Super 4s.
