Ravindra Jadeja once again came clutch for India with bat in hand on Day 3 at Lord’s. With the visitors having lost Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul in quick succession, Jadeja chipped in with a vital half century in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. It was the veteran’s 3rd consecutive 50 in the India vs England series, helping claw at England’s score.
Jadeja slays England once again, slams hat-trick of fifties
Ravindra Jadeja continues to torment England with yet another gritty knock on Saturday. Coming into bat with India having lost Rishabh Pant, he saw KL Rahul depart soon after Tea. Together with Nitish Kumar Reddy, he provided the perfect rearguard action for the visitors.
The 36-year-old was assured in defence and chipped in with boundaries at regular intervals. With India still trailing by 133, Jadeja took them towards a lead with a fighting knock. He reached his half-century off just 87 balls, He did up the ante after his milestone, driving India forward in a partnership with Washington Sundar.
Jadeja was central to India’s win in Edgbaston. He scored a fine 89 in the first innings followed by 69 not out in the second. His heroics on Saturday made it three consecutive fifties. Overall, it was his 25th in Test cricket. Jadeja also equalled VVS Laxman for most 50+ scores batting at No.6 or below in Test cricket. The India legend had 28, the same as Jadeja. Overall, MS Dhoni leads that list with 38, followed by Kapil Dev at 35.
