Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium curse continued for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as they tasted their first defeat of IPL 2025. Jos Buttler and Mohammed Siraj combined to knock off RCB away from home. However, during the field, Virat Kohli possibly hurt his fingers. The moment was a cautionary one for RCB and Indian fans. Elsewhere, there are good news for the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Sanju Samson is set to regain his captaincy from Riyan Parag as he is now cleared to keep wickets at IPL 2025. Meanwhile, LSG might soon have their X-factor pacer coming in after an injury. On that note, let us look at the top cricketing stories from Wednesday, April 2.

Sanju Samson to regain RR captaincy

Sanju Samson is all set to regain the Rajasthan Royals (RR) captaincy after receiving fitness clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. Samson had undergone surgery for a fractured finger in February and was initially restricted from keeping wickets for the first three matches of IPL 2025. However, after a successful assessment, Samson will resume his duties as captain and wicketkeeper against Punjab Kings on April 5. This comes as a boost for RR, who are currently placed 9th in the IPL 2025 points table.

Is Virat Kohli injured?

Virat Kohli gave his fans a major scare during RCB’s match against Gujarat Titans at IPL 2025. The Indian superstar suffered a finger injury while fielding, and for a moment, it seemed like the entire stadium held its breath. Fortunately, after a quick check-up, Kohli was back on his feet and continued playing. Although his batting performance was a letdown, scoring just 7 runs off 6 balls, the finger injury didn’t appear to be a major issue. Phew!

Good news for LSG

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have received a much-needed boost with pacer Akash Deep set to return from injury. Deep, who has been sidelined since December 2024 with a lower back injury, is likely to partner with Shardul Thakur in the LSG vs MI clash on April 4. His return will strengthen LSG’s bowling attack, which has been struggling with the absence of Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav.

Siraj haunts back RCB

Mohammed Siraj made a stunning return to his former home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, with a dramatic spell of 3/19 for Gujarat Titans against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Siraj’s magic included over 50% dot balls, and he conceded just one four and one six. He picked up key wickets, including Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt, and Liam Livingstone. Despite representing RCB for years, he claimed his first Player of the Match award in this match (against RCB)!

Suryakumar Yadav trolls reports

Suryakumar Yadav has denied reports that he’s leading a group of Mumbai Ranji players to switch to Goa’s team. A recent report claimed SKY was convincing players to make the move, but he took to Twitter to dismiss the rumors, calling them “ekdum bakwas” (complete nonsense). This comes after Yashasvi Jaiswal made a surprise switch to Goa, citing a leadership role as his reason.

Yashasvi Jaiswal switches team

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is leaving Mumbai to play for Goa in the domestic circuit. Jaiswal, who has been brilliant in first-class cricket with 3712 runs at an average of 60, cited “personal reasons” for the move. He will lead Goa in the upcoming domestic season. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) granted him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) within an hour of receiving his email request.
