India cricket team will take on South Africa in the 1st Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14 onwards. The series marks Shubman Gill and India’s second at home in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC 2025/27) cycle. India will be playing their first Test at the venue since the pink-ball Test against Bangladesh in 2019. India captain Shubman Gill has confirmed that the playing XI would only be finalized on the day of the contest. It means that it remains to be seen if Jasrit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are the only pacers while it is expected for India to consititute their XI based mostly on spinners.
