by Ansh Athani · Inside Sport IndiaWelcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.
We had the first, and hopefully the last, washout of IPL 2026. We’ve got injury and availability updates about MS Dhoni, Dewald Brevis, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Matheesha Pathirana. SRH has written to BCCI, highlighting a few concerns. And lastly, is PSL set to overtake IPL?
MS Dhoni fitness update
MS Dhoni is set to undergo a fitness test to determine whether he’ll be fit for CSK’s next match on April 11. Dhoni has been out after picking up a calf injury during the IPL 2026 preparatory camp. He hasn’t travelled with CSK for away games but has been training regularly in Chennai. Meanwhile, Dewald Brevis is expected to be fit for the next match.
SRH writes to BCCI
SRH aren’t pleased with the controversial decisions going against them in their first three IPL 2026 matches. Irked by the Avesh Khan incident, whereby the fast bowler hit the ball with his bat before it could cross the boundary, SRH has written to BCCI expressing unhappiness.
Pathirana to play IPL 2026
Matheesha Pathirana isn’t far away from reaching match fitness. The Sri Lankan fast bowler has started bowling in the nets and recently trained at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Although he isn’t bowling at full tilt yet, KKR expect him to join them at some point during IPL 2026.

LSG to replace Hasaranga
LSG has decided to rope in an injury replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga. The franchise isn’t happy that the Sri Lankan all-rounder hasn’t provided them with an update on his fitness. He did attend a practice session last week but didn’t bowl. Hasaranga’s potential replacement could be one of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi, Liam Dawson, or Rehan Ahmed.
IPL 2026’s first washout
The KKR vs PBKS match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata was abandoned due to rain. The weather was expected to spoil the game, but it started on time. However, about 15 minutes in, players had to go off due to rain. After waiting for over 3 hours, the umpires called off the game.
PSL to get bigger than IPL?
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has claimed that the PSL will overtake the IPL to become the world’s number one cricket league in the near future. However, there’s little to suggest that this could happen. For example, IPL’s media rights are about 65x more than PSL, $6 billion compared to $93 million. Safe to say, Naqvi’s just making claims for the sake of it.
