The T20 World Cup is underway, but the IPL is making all the buzz. Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are back in the headlines. All the talks about venues and captains. India remains undefeated at the T20 World Cup. The BCB President will attend the India vs Pakistan match. Lastly, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has started IPL 2026 preparations.
BCCI-BCB to hold talks
BCCI and BCB’s relationship has soured over the last few months. India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh has been indefinitely postponed, and Bangladesh refused to come to India for the T20 World Cup. After ICC, PCB, and BCB reached an agreement and the India vs Pakistan match goes ahead, the BCB plans to mend things with BCCI during the game in Colombo.
KSCA gets clearance
The Karnataka government has granted KSCA permission to host international and IPL matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Which means RCB will return to their home in IPL 2026 matches. However, there’s one condition. KSCA will be allowed to host a maximum crowd of 35,000, which is about 5,000 less than the venue’s capacity.
New RR captain
Rajasthan Royals will announce their captain for IPL 2026 at 4 PM IST on February 13. After RR decided to trade their skipper since 2021, Sanju Samson, to CSK, they have to appoint a new captain. RR basically has 3 options: Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, or Ravindra Jadeja.

India wins in Delhi
Jasprit Bumrah was back in Delhi, but Abhishek Sharma wasn’t fit for selection as Sanju Samson got a lucky chance. The wicketkeeper played a fine cameo, 22 (8), but Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya stole the show with fifties. Pandya picked up 2 wickets as well. Ultimately, India secured a mammoth 93-run victory.
RR writes to BCCI
After the BCCI requested that RR continue using the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as their home base, RR has written back to the board, expressing concern over the venue’s lack of fail-safe measures. RR finds issue with things like emergency evacuation and questions over public safety.
Suryavanshi starts IPL training
After attending RR’s training camp until February 21, Vaibhav Suryakumar will play the DY Patil T20 tournament in Navi Mumbai. The 16-team competition will start on February 23 and act as preparation for IPL 2026. Last year, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Nehal Wadhera, and Deepak Chahar played in the tournament.
