Former CSK finisher Sameer Rizvi is happy to move to playing for DC in IPL 2025 and wants to use the tricks thought by his previous team to his advantage

Former Chennai Super Kings star Sameer Rizvi is happy to move to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 and is looking forward to doing well with the franchise. The prolific finisher was not retained by the five-time champions and was eventually picked by the Capitals for Rs 90 lakhs. Rizvi aims to follow MS Dhoni‘s advice and use it to his advantage in the upcoming edition of the tournament. Rizvi was in the news recently for shattering a List A record with his monstrous six hitting ability.

Sameer Rizvi excited for DC journey in IPL 2025

Speaking to Times of India, Sameer Rizvi stated that he was okay to move on from CSK to DC, adding that he was looking forward to playing with them. He admitted that he couldn’t contribute as much to CSK in IPL 2024 but said that he had learnt a lot from the team. He further hoped to take tips from KL Rahul, DC’s richest buy in the mega auction, to improve his game.

Honestly, I didn’t do much for CSK last year, but I am happy with the takeaways from the champion side like CSK. They taught me a lot. I am keen to hit the Delhi Capitals’ nets and perform for them. Delhi has a star-studded side. KL Rahul is there, Faf du Plessis is there. I want to take a lot of tips from KL Rahul regarding my batting. He is a class batter,” Sameer Rizvi said.

Sameer Rizvi raced to 201 from only 97 deliveries, in an Under-23 State A Trophy match, on Saturday. The fiery batter smashed 13 fours and 20 sixes, in an innings that had a strike-rate of of overs 207. He has been in sensational form throughout the tournament, and had scored 153 in 114 balls vs Himachal Pradesh, and 137 from 69 vs Pondicherry, in the last two matches.
