India's second leading run-getter in the Women's World Cup 2025 Pratika Rawal has confirmed that she will be getting her medal

India women’s cricket team star Pratika Rawal will lay her hands on the Women’s World Cup 2025 medal after she wasn’t awarded one following India’s win in the final. India’s second leading run-getter in the recently concluded tournament was ruled out after she suffered knee and ankle injuries before the semi-final against Australia. It has now been learnt that Rawal will indeed get a medal like the rest of the her World Cup-winning teammates, thanks to ICC chairman Jay Shah.

Pratika Rawal confirmed to get Women’s World Cup medal

Speaking to CNN News18, Rawal informed that ICC’s Jay Shah had intervened in the matter and assured her that she would get her World Cup medal soon. She said that the former BCCI secretary had told her that she would indeed get a medal of her own, adding that it was already on the way.

Jay Shah intervened and told us he wants to make sure I get a medal of my own. It is on the way. I will get it soon,” Rawal said.

As per the ICC rules, only players who were a part of the 15-member squad would get the medals after the World Cup final. Rawal was replaced by Shafali Verma in the squad for the semis and the final, and hence her replacement did get a medal.

Pratika managed to amass 308 runs in 7 matches, averaging 51.33. Her phenomenal run was stopped short due to the injury she suffered in the final league stage game against Bangladesh.

Despite missing the final, Rawal was seen celebrating with the team on a wheelchair after India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final. She was also a part of the Indian squad who visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi a couple of days ago, although she was seen wearing a support staff medal.
