Chaos over tickets for IND vs SA Women’s World Cup 2025 final, ‘sold out’ message angers fans

Fans were left in lurch after BookMyShow displayed a sold out message for tickets for the Women's World Cup 2025 final

All is not well among fans and cricket lovers as chaos ensues over tickets for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. India Women and South Africa Women will lock horns in a tie that will determine who will emerge as the new world champions. Fans have, however, been left in a lurch as the ticket booking on official ticketing partner BookMyShow did not go live until Friday and on Saturday, it simply showed sold out.

Women’s World Cup 2025 tickets fiasco

At 12 PM on October 22, BookMyShow took to social media platform X to inform fans that the sale of tickets for the Women’s World Cup 2025 final at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai will go live from 6 PM onwards. The exclusive pre-sale was to be held between 22-24 October. General sale begin from 7 PM onwards on October 24. While some fans did manage to book tickets during this period, it is what followed next that left them fuming at BookMyShow, BCCI and the ICC.

“I bought tickets for the final on 24th via Book My Show online. They were available until the semifinal match was played on Thursday. Booking was suspended then with the site showing ‘coming soon’. Now it shows sold out. BMS always does this. They should simply tell us whether it is sold out or not,” said Piyush Nathani, an ardent Indian cricket fan, who attended all 3 matches at Navi Mumbai.

Ever since it was confirmed that India would face South Africa in the World Cup final after beating Australia in the semis, not once did the sale of tickets go live on the platform. Instead, when checked on both BookMyShow’s mobile application and website, the message displayed was ‘Coming soon’. That was the case until Friday – 48 hours before the marquee on clash.

On Saturday, 24 hours before the clash, the message displayed on BookMyShow when attempted to book tickets for the IND vs SA final was ‘sold out’, leaving fans angered and frustrated. Attached below is a screenshot of one such attempt made on Saturday.

On the other hand, while the tickets prized at Rs 150 have been either sold out or not available due to a technical glitch, the tickets priced at Rs 7500 (perhaps VIP boxes) are being shown available on BookMyShow but when attempted to book is unsuccessful.

As per Times of India, the tickets for the Women’s World Cup 2025 final was reportedly sold out 8 days before Saturday – meaning on October 24. This was the same da that general sales began and also at a time when it wasn’t confirmed that India would be in the final. It is pertinent to point out that India defeated Australia on October 30 to cement a spot in the final.

Frustrated fans took to social media platform X to call out BookMyShow over the ticket fiasco and urged the BCCI to intervene. Fans also pointed out how the tickets which were previously priced between Rs 150-500 had been increased by a whooping margin just two days before the event.
