Vaishnavi Sharma made a remarkable debut by becoming the first Indian bowler in the Women’s U19 World Cup to take a hat-trick in her first match against Malaysia.
She was the standout performer, claiming a five-wicket haul, including a hat-trick. Vaishnavi wrapped up the tailenders with three consecutive wickets, two of them being lbws, and bowled out Siti Nazwah. Watch the video below.
The India U19 women’s cricket team had already secured a victory over the West Indies U19 team in their opening match of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, thanks to a dominant bowling performance. In their second match against Malaysia U19, India once again chose to bowl first after winning the toss. The Indian bowlers continued their excellent form, restricting Malaysia to just 31 runs.
Who is Vaishnavi Sharma?
The 19-year-old, hailing from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, is the first cricketer to represent the Chambal region. She was also honored with the Jagmohan Dalmiya Trophy for the Best Woman Cricketer in the Junior Domestic season of 2022-23.
