‘Will ask him’ – Arshdeep Singh’s cheeky reply to Virat Kohli’s feeling about playing just ODIs query
by Ansh Athani · Inside Sport IndiaVirat Kohli recorded an 8-ball duck in Perth on his return to ODI cricket after 7 months.
Arshdeep Singh remains his authentic self. Whether it be recording videos for his social media, writing funny captions, or in a press conference. The left-arm pacer, who played his first ODI match in 8 months, wasn’t asked about his performance but about Virat Kohli.
In the rain-affected India vs Australia 1st ODI, Kohli recorded an 8-ball duck, while Arshdeep took 1/31 in 5 overs. When the tall pacer came for the press conference afterwards, he wasn’t asked just one but two questions about Kohli.
Arshdeep Singh’s funny reply to Virat Kohli question
The first was about Kohli’s form. Since he hadn’t played an international match since March, it was only natural that he was rusty. Arshdeep brushed the question aside, stating that he’s played 303 ODIs and knows how 50-over cricket works. He also predicted that Kohli might score big runs in the coming matches.
“He has played more than 300 matches for India, so ‘form’ is just a word for him. He knows how to get going. It is always like a blessing to be in the same dressing room with him, and going forward, I feel there’ll be a lot of runs for him in this series as well,” Arshdeep told reporters in Perth.
But come the second one, the 26-year-old gave a tongue-in-cheek reply. In fairness, the question wasn’t great. A journalist asked Arshdeep about how Kohli was feeling playing just one format of cricket for India. The pacer from Punjab answered by saying that he’ll ask the former India captain about it and give him a reply after the India vs Australia 2nd ODI.
“Talking about the format he is playing, he has mastered this one. So I don’t know how he feels about it. I will ask him about his feelings and maybe tell you in the next press conference,” Arshdeep replied.
