Luke Littler ready to go again at the place where it all began. And the teenager is convinced this time he’ll get his hands on the World Championship trophy.

Littler begins his title bid against Ryan Meikle tonight. Millions are tuning-in to watch the 17-year-old as he starts his bid to go one better than 12 months ago. Littler burst into the public conscience last year with his run to the Final making his headline news on front and back pages.

He said: “I’ll always go into it with the same mindset. Obviously, it’s a bit different this year. I’m fourth in the world having won 10 titles this year, whereas I was literally a nobody last year having won a few development titles. It feels weird going back to where it all started, so to speak, but I just want to get that first game out of the way and kick on from there.

“I could have gone 5-2 up in the final last time but missed double two, and that’s championship darts and I’m looking forward to it again. I wish everybody all the best, but I’m confident. I’ve got the game in me to lift the trophy.”

Littlr and current champions Luke Humphries can’t meet in this year’s FInal due to the draw. But he warned: “As soon as the bracket came out, it was all talk about Littler v Humphries in the semi-finals, but we’ve still both got to win our games.”
