Eintracht Frankfurt are considering a move for Motherwell star Lennon Miller - although Udinese have failed in the first move.

The Bundesliga giants have been tracking the 18-year-old for several months. Frankfurt are known to trawl Europe to pick up the best emerging talent and the Scotland Under-21 cap falls into that category. Motherwell, Miller and his representatives are all aware of the German interest.

The teenager is currently out for a couple of months with a fractured foot and if Frankfurt do firm up their interest then it would be more likely to be for the summer. Udinese have already failed with two bids. Motherwell chief executive Brian Caldwell has claimed the two offers so far, with the latest of around £2.5 million, have been “miles off it”.

The Italian outfit though are refusing to go away and are expected to go back in, but it looks like they will have to up the ante significantly to get any joy. Caldwell, speaking to the Motherwell website, confirmed: “We’ve had a couple of offers from a club who are miles away from our valuation of Lennon Miller.

“We’re not desperate to sell the player. We’e always said from day one it has to be right for Lennon and right for the club. We’re not just going to accept any kind of offer for Lennon.

“Lennon is statistically I believe in the top seven players in the world for his age for midfield players. He is an exceptional talent, we all know that. If and when Lennon does move it will be for the right price for us and also the right one for Lennon Miller.”

Miller is still under contract until the summer of 2026, so Motherwell are well protected and unlikely to sell for anything less that a club record sale. Udinese are owned by the Pozzo group who also are in control of Watford. The English side has raided Scotland recently to sign the likes of Rocco Vata and Ryan Porteous.

The likes of Celtic and Southampton are two of the other clubs watching Miller’s situation closely. Meanwhile, Caldwell admitted Motherwell will be looking to add to their squad with injuries crippling Stuart Kettlewell’s side.

Caldwell confirmed: “There’s no doubt we need to try and help where we can. Stuart was always going to try and bring numbers in to boost the squad. The injury situation has made it even more imperative we bring some new recruits in to help that squad get through.”
