Dundee United are reluctantly set to sell Kevin Holt to Derry City for a significant five figure fee.

United have agreed to sell the 32-year-old, who has indicated he wants to join the Irish side. Holt has now been given permission to open talks with Derry ahead of their transfer deadline tonight. United had previously knocked back offers from Derry for Holt because they wanted to keep him. Jim Goodwin sees him as a key player of their European push but the players told him he wanted to go.

The defender was out of contact at the end of the season at Tannadice and is also set for a significant wage hike by moving across the water. Holt also indicated that he was struggling with a knock and could need surgery before the end of the season, The former Dundee player moved to Tannadice two seasons ago. He helped United to win the Championship and to get them off to a flying start in their Premiership return.
