Jack Della Maddalena captured UFC gold last night (Sat., May 10, 2025) at UFC 315 LIVE on ESPN+ PPV from inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, outlasting UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad in a wild five-round main event showdown.

Della Maddalena did good in the early going by keeping his distance and landing some solid shots against the champion. Despite having less success with his hands Muhammad kept plodding forward mixing in some grappling and clinch work when he could. Della Maddalena found more success in Round 2 with some whipping shots from range. Muhammad tried to find a home for a takedown, but remained unsuccessful.

Muhammad was a little more active on the feet in the third round, but he was landing at a poor rate. Della Maddalena, on the other hand, was clean on the feet and made his shots count. The challenger also showed off great takedown defense as Muhammad failed a few attempts along the cage. Muhammad amped the pressure up even more in the fourth round and started to pull ahead with more offense on the feet. However, whenever he slid inside for a takedown JDM defended it and it reset the action.

Della Maddalena played matador early in the fifth round as he tried to keep Muhammad from getting close for a takedown. JDM was able to land a nice knee inside as Muhammad was coming in that created a bad cut on the champion’s face. Muhammad finally responded with a timely takedown, but Della Maddalena eventually returned to his feet. JDM started teeing off until “Remember the Name” got a hold of him and scored another brief takedown. The two welterweights would exchange heavy shots until the final bell.

In the end, it was Della Maddalena who did enough over the course of five rounds to walk away with the title. Check out some video highlights below:
