Magomed Ankalaev has receipts.
The newly-crowned light heavyweight champion is steamrolling everyone in his path — even combatants with kind words about his performance against Alex Pereira atop the UFC 313 pay-per-view (PPV) event last weekend in Las Vegas.
His latest target: UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Jones has been accused of ducking interim 265-pound titleholder Tom Aspinall. I’m not sure what stake Ankalaev has in the Jones vs. Aspinall title unification bout, but it sounds like “Big Ank” is just happy to have spoiled the Jones vs. Pereira super fight.
Jones has yet to respond to the Ankalaev attack.
The promotion will “probably” book Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2 for later this year, once “Poatan” gets done with all those pesky travel commitments. As for Jones, no word yet on when the heavyweight title will be defended, but it sounds like both Aspinall and UFC CEO Dana White are ready to move on.
