Jake Paul wants sympathy for the true victim in the Conor McGregor sexual assault trial, which appears to be ... Jake Paul?

The celebrity boxer was on social media earlier today, asking fight fans to justify their hatred for his combat sports exploits, particularly in light of McGregor’s legal problems. In addition, Paul referenced the previous slapping incident between UFC CEO Dana White and his wife.

“Dana hits his wife, Conor’s convicted of rape,” Paul wrote on Twitter. “But I’m the bad guy?”

Not surprisingly, fans were lighting him up in the comments section for his tone-deaf tweet.

It’s important to note that McGregor lost his civil suit in the sexual assault trial held earlier this month in Dublin, which is not the same as a criminal conviction. In fact, law enforcement failed to press charges against “Notorious” when the complaint was first filed back in 2018.

“Notorious” is expected to appeal today’s ruling.

As for White, he owned up to striking his wife inside a Cabo club on New Year’s Eve. I’m not sure how that incident is supposed to make Paul a more sympathetic figure after his disappointing (but successful) boxing match against Mike Tyson, but his tweet certainly did a bang-up job of getting everyone riled up.

That’s how “assassinations” happen.
