UFC Kansas City video: Ian Machado Garry and Michel Pereira trade unexpected insults during weigh ins — ‘Prates kill you’

Ian Machado Garry and Michel Pereira shared some unexpected beef earlier today (Fri., April 25, 2025) at the early-morning weigh ins for UFC Kansas City going down this weekend LIVE on ESPN2/ESPN+ from inside T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Garry, who will help headline UFC’s return to Kansas City in a five-round main event clash against rising welterweight phenom Carlos Prates, was seen walking out of the back as he turned around to look at Pereira and quickly started to talk trash. Pereira is in town to help hold down the undercard in a middleweight clash with Abus Magomedov.

The specifics of Friday’s weigh-ins incident are unknown at this time, but Garry was the first one to be heard telling Pereira to “shut up.” Pereira fired back from there claiming that Garry will lose his weekend matchup with Prates. Maybe Pereira was coming to defend his fellow Brazilian or maybe he just doesn’t like Garry. Either way, it made for a good watch during a fairly uneventful early weigh-in.

“Prates kill you,” responded Pereira.
“You just do what you’re told,” Garry fired back.
“F—you,” said Pereira.

Garry, who is coming off his first-ever career loss after dropping a decision to Shavkat Rakhmonov last December, didn’t seem to be all that bothered by the random confrontation. That’s a good sign for “Future” as the Irish contender tries to derail the hype train that is Carlos Prates on just three weeks notice.
