Jack Della Maddalena scored the biggest win of his career at UFC 315 last night (Sat., May 10, 2025) by becoming the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion, defeating Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (watch highlights).

His reward? A potential date with Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, but the Australian knockout artist is ready for the challenge.

“There are a lot of good welterweights. Obviously, what Islam has done means he deserves it if he wants to step up,” Maddalena told the media during the post-fight press conference (watch here). “But it’s not my call; it’s up to the UFC.”

Immediately after JDM’s win, Makhachev took to social media to make it clear he wants to fight the new Welterweight champion.

“You are not Volk, I will show you a different level. Keep my belt clean,” Makhachev wrote.

When asked about Makhachev’s tweets, Maddalena simply replied, “Come get it.”

It’s not known if Maddalena and Makhachev will collide later this year because UFC CEO Dana White skipped the UFC 315 post-fight press conference, but hopefully, answers will come this week.
