UFC 315 went down last night (Sat., May 10, 2025) inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Headlining the ESPN+-streamed was a Welterweight title fight that saw Jack Della Maddalena dethrone Belal Muhammad from the top of the Welterweight mountain, defeating him via unanimous decision after five rounds of action (see it again here). In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko defeated Manon Fiorot to retain her women’s UFC Flyweight title (see it again here).
Biggest Winner: Jack Della Maddalena
in what proved to be a highly-competitive fight, Maddalena did enough to win the fight on all of the judges scorecards, ending Muhammad’s reign atop the Welterweight division before it got any momentum going. While “Remember The Name” put up a fight, “JDM” was the more aggressive fighter on the feet, especially in the fifth and final round where it seemed he was on the verge of closing out the show. Despite not getting the finish, he showed great takedown defense and proved superior when it came to the striking attack. Aside from winning the 170-pound strap, he could have very well secured himself a big title fight against Islam Makhachev.
Runner (s) Up: Valentina Shevchenko and Natalia Silva
In her first title defense in her second run as women’s Flyweight champion, “Bullet” started off with a bang, taking it to No. 2 ranked Manon Fiorot early, busting up her face with her tactical striking. She showed off her speed, as well, which at times was too much for the challenger. “Bullet” definitely rolled the clock back a little bit and showed just why she is one of the best in the game, despite her setback against Alexa Grasso two years ago. Shevchenko has now competed in 12 straight title fights. winning 10 of them. As for Silva, she made the leap to the next level after she defeated former women’s Flyweight champion, Alexa Grasso. That is now 13 straight wins for Silva, who is undefeated inside the Octagon at 7-0 The No. 5 ranked fighter in the world at the moment. Silva could very well rocket up to No. 1 after he latest victory.
Biggest Loser: Bruno Silva
Silva likely earned his walking papers from UFC after his loss to Marc-Andre Barriault, who stopped him via strikes in the very first round. For Silva, that is now consecutive loss number five, dropping hi, to 1-7 in his last eight fights. That simply won’t cut it if he wants to hang on to his spot in a loaded division. It’ a drastic down fall for the Brazilian, who started his UFC career with three straight wins.
