Michael Jordan To Join NBC Sports As A ‘Special Contributor’
by Mikai Bruce · ForbesNBC has announced that one of the greatest NBA players of all time, Michael Jordan will be a part of their NBA coverage. After many years without NBA rights, NBC will once again be the home for many NBA games beginning with the 2025-25 NBA season.
Jordan’s official role announced by NBC is “special contributor”. The exact details of what this role will entail are yet to be seen, but we can assume that Jordan will be part of their broadcast for NBA games in some capacity at least. NBC had NBA rights during Jordan’s playing days, and his stardom and elite on-court performances led to record-setting ratings for the broadcasting company. With Jordan being involved in the NBA’s return to NBC they are hoping his presence can drive ratings once again.
Jordan has remained out of NBA circles since he sold his ownership stake in the Charlotte Hornets in 2023 for $3 billion. This will also mark Jordan’s first time being a media member in any capacity. In a rare public comment from the Bulls legend, he said this.
“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC. The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”
NBC is clearly not sparing any expense when it comes to their rollout for the NBA’s return to their platform.
