Fatima Bosch, 25, from Mexico, has been officially crowned Miss Universe 2025, securing the title after a dramatic and eventful pageant marked by a controversy involving a Thai pageant director. She received the crown from outgoing winner Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, breaking down in tears as fellow contestants cheered her on.

Bosch clinched the title with her standout response in the final round, where contestants were asked which global issue they would address at the United Nations and how they would use the Miss Universe platform to empower young girls. “Believe in the power of your authenticity. Your dreams matter, your heart matters. Never let anyone make you doubt your worth,” she said — an answer that aligned closely with this year’s theme, The Power of Love.

Her victory followed a widely discussed controversy earlier in the competition. Bosch had staged a walkout — still wearing her evening gown and heels — after host Nawat Itsaragrisil allegedly berated her during a livestream, calling her a “dumbhead” over a social media content dispute. Though Nawat denied using the term, he did call for security to intervene. Bosch, supported by Miss Iraq, said the incident disrespected contestants and insisted the world needed to see empowered women stand up for themselves.

India’s representative, Manika Vishwakarma, made it to the Top 15 after the swimsuit round, where she wore a white monokini, but did not advance to the Top 12. India last won the Miss Universe crown in 2021 with Harnaaz Sandhu, following previous wins by Sushmita Sen (1994) and Lara Dutta (2000). (Agencies)
