FC Nordsjaelland star Caleb Yirenkyi has praised the influence of Ghana's senior players after scoring the winning goal in the Black Stars' 1-0 victory over Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 20-year-old midfielder said the experienced members of Carlos Queiroz's squad have played a key role in helping the younger players settle into the team.

"With the team we have, there's great support around us," Yirenkyi said.

"The senior players help us very much as young players. We just have to take the information in and do our best, run for each other, fight for each other and cover spaces for each other."

Yirenkyi also praised the team's unity after first-choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi was forced off injured at half-time.

"We are one team. Anyone who comes in is still part of the team. Nothing changed. It was the same."

The midfielder admitted Ghana missed Thomas Partey but expressed hope the experienced midfielder would return later in the tournament.

"He is a great player for us to have. Hopefully, we will have him back in the next games, and we hope for the best for him."

The victory leaves Ghana well placed ahead of Tuesday's clash with England.
