German-born Ghanaian defender Gideon Jung has expressed his delight at completing a move to German club Alemannia Aachen, stating his eagerness to contribute to the team with "full energy".

The 31-year-old defensive all-rounder, who was most recently with Turkish side Kayserispor, brings extensive experience to his new club.

Jung began his senior career at Rot-Weiss Oberhausen before a notable stint at Hamburger SV, where he played for several years in both the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga.

With a career tally of 83 Bundesliga appearances and 125 matches in Germany's second division, Jung has built a solid reputation. He also has the honour of winning the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with Germany.

Speaking after finalising the transfer, Jung highlighted the positive discussions that led to his signing. "I am very happy to now be part of the team," he said.

"The conversations with Rachid and Mersad were open and clear from the start. After the past few months, I especially want to get back into the rhythm quickly and help the squad with full energy."

The move marks a return to German football for Jung, who aims to quickly integrate and make a significant impact for Alemannia Aachen in the upcoming season.
