Athletic Club has shifted its preseason into full gear, and the spotlight is firmly on Nico Williams as the club prepares for what promises to be a tough campaign.

Though fears of surgery have been dismissed, the talented winger's condition remains a central concern at Lezama.

Team doctor Josean Lekue confirmed that “as of today, we are not considering operating on Nico,” putting to rest speculation about a possible procedure. Still, the club acknowledges that Williams must be carefully managed throughout the season.

The dynamic forward has dealt with groin discomfort since last year, and Athletic is working closely with him to prevent further issues. “He came in yesterday to integrate into the general dynamic… we value him and he's much better,” Lekue added.

Williams is expected to complete a more complete preseason than last year, with staff approaching his case holistically. “We always approach the issue from a general perspective,” said Lekue, stressing the need for prevention over cure in today’s high-intensity game.
