Benjamin Asare says criticism motivates him ahead of 2026 World Cup challenge
· GhanaSoccernetBenjamin Asare says criticism and public scrutiny do not affect him as he prepares for what could be the biggest stage of his career with Ghana.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, who is currently Ghana’s first-choice shot-stopper ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, admitted that opinions will always come with playing at the top level.
Speaking to 3Sports, Asare said he remains focused on improving despite criticism from some fans who believe he could struggle against top opposition at the World Cup, where Ghana will face Panama, England and Croatia in the group stage.
“They say it always, but it’s their opinion. The moment you reach this level, people will say a lot of things,” he said.
The goalkeeper also pointed out that even the best goalkeepers in world football concede goals and face criticism.
“Although by God’s grace I’ve reached this level, some of these players also play against top goalkeepers who even concede. So how much more me, now making strides thanks to God,” Asare explained.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper insisted the criticism rather motivates him to keep working harder.
“No, it doesn’t bother me; it rather encourages me because not everyone makes it to this level,” he added.
