He has it in his DNA – Pep Guardiola praises Antoine Semenyo's versatility at Manchester City
· GhanaSoccernetManchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lauded Antoine Semenyo's adaptability since his January arrival, highlighting the Ghana forward's ability to operate across multiple attacking positions as a key asset for the Premier League champions.
Speaking ahead of City's clash with Newcastle United, Guardiola emphasized that Semenyo's value extends beyond his impressive goal contributions.
"It's not just scoring a lot of goals. The strikers and the players who play up front are so important. Not just that," Guardiola said.
"He makes a special rhythm, his versatility to play many positions up front and in the three positions. He has it in his DNA. His impact has been really good."
Since completing his move from AFC Bournemouth in January, Semenyo has registered five goals and two assists in nine appearances across all competitions. However, Guardiola was keen to spotlight the forward's tactical intelligence and positional flexibility as equally vital to City's system.
"The guys who came adapt quick because the guys for a long time here embrace them so quick," he added, crediting the squad's cohesion for helping new signings settle seamlessly.
Semenyo's ability to feature across the front line has given Guardiola valuable tactical flexibility as City push for silverware on multiple fronts. A win against Newcastle on Saturday would move City within two points of league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.
