English-Ghanaian winger Kevin Berkoe produced a standout moment as his early assist set Salford City on their way to a dramatic 3–2 FA Cup third-round win over Swindon Town at The Peninsula Stadium.
Berkoe’s precision delivery in the 11th minute allowed Ryan Graydon to open the scoring, giving the hosts the perfect platform.
Salford started on the front foot and were rewarded when Berkoe advanced down the left and picked out Graydon, who finished clinically for 1–0. The Ammies carried that lead into half-time, with Swindon struggling to turn their greater share of possession into clear chances.
Graydon struck again on 52 minutes, this time from a Kelly N’Mai assist, seemingly putting Salford in complete control at 2–0. Swindon, however, roared back as Ollie Palmer pulled one back on 55 minutes before James Ball levelled at 2–2 just after the hour.
Salford refused to panic and restored their lead through Luke Garbutt in the 68th minute, a goal that ultimately decided a breathless cup tie. The hosts then managed the closing stages well to secure their place in the next round.
Berkoe’s influence, especially in the opening goal, will encourage Salford fans as the team continues a strong run of form. Salford City now turn their attention to League Two, where they visit Bristol Rovers on Saturday, 24 January.
