Former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, Samuel Anim Addo has expressed his displeasure following the appointment of Winfried Schaffer as the technical advisor to the Black Stars and Director of Football.

The Ghana FA on Tuesday effected major changes to the Black Stars technical team in a bid to revamp the national side ahead of upcoming tournaments.

However, Anim Addo has shared his discontentment with the appointment of ‘inactive’ Schaffer.

“Winfried Schaffer has been inactive" he said in an audio aired on Kessben FM. "We all championed for modern technical team, which Ameenu Shadow is part because we see him as a modern boy who can offer a lot. What’s Schaffer’s age and when was the last time he managed a team? He asked.

“If we are changing Professor Mintah, why don’t we bring someone who is younger and knows the modern trends of football? Otto Addo didn’t meet any of the criteria, yet he won the Black Stars job. So why don’t we do same in appointing a young technical person to lead”

Experienced German manager Winfried Anton Schaffer, who guided Cameroon to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations title joins as the technical advisor to the Black Stars team and is expected to work closely with Otto Addo.

Desmond Offei, the current head coach of Ghana's U20 team, joins the Black Stars' technical bench as an assistant coach, replacing German Joseph Laumann.

He will work alongside assistants John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, who have retained their roles under head coach Otto Addo.

In addition, Kris Perquy, a seasoned sports psychologist with 17 years of experience, has been appointed to enhance the team's mental preparedness.

The technical setup also includes Belgian video analyst Gregory De Grauwe, who brings extensive expertise from his time with clubs such as Sporting Lokeren and K. Beerschot VA.
