The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has explained why it has recruited five additional coaches to the male senior national team, the Black Stars.

According to Black Stars Technical Advisor Winfred Anton Schafer, the new coaches have been strategically brought on board to ensure Ghana succeeds at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada.

"The five new additions to the Black Stars technical team were strategically brought on to ensure Ghana succeeds at the World Cup," Winfred Anton Schafer said in an interview with Medeamaa FM.

The Ghana FA, a few days ago, announced a decision to bolster the Black Stars’ technical setup with the appointment of five highly experienced professionals ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The recruits include French tactician Alain Ravera, Black Queens Head Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, Spanish national José Daniel Martínez Alfonso, physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, and British-born Ghanaian performance specialist Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi.

The five new technical team members are expected to use their expertise to help the national team achieve its goal at this year's World Cup.
